Robert Thornton founded the property management company, Thornton Properties, when receiving his Realtors License in1985 in Guntersville, Alabama. He received his Brokers License in 1990 and holds GRI/CRS Designations. In 1997, he expanded his management of Single Family Homes & Commercial Buildings to include Vacation Rentals. He has always been very involved in the Board of Realtors, holding the positions of Past President of Marshall County Board of Realtors & Past State Director of Alabama Board of Realtors. Robert is also a Life Member of the Marshall County Million Dollar Club.
Number three son, Mark Thornton, received his Realtors License in 1999 after graduating from the University of Alabama and joined his father in the property management business partnered with Coldwell Banker Graben Realty for listing & selling homes. The business grew dramatically with the addition of Office Manager, Jean Calvert, in Spring 2003.
After completing four years in the armed forces, youngest son Lief Thornton joined the family business after receiving his Realtors license in the Fall of 2003. The company expanded again in 2005 when the Thorntons struck out on their own, opening their own brokerage firm, Mountain Lake Real Estate, with family friend & local realtor Marsha
Lee.
Besides being avid hunters & outdoor sportsmen, the Thorntons have always been active in the Alabama Wildlife Federation, the oldest conservation program in the state of Alabama in which Robert is past president.
Today, Thornton Properties leads the Guntersville area
rental market, managing 98 Residential Rentals, 8 Commercial Buildings, & 20 Vacation Rentals with continued expansion always a topic of conversation.
